You can use any pattern you like for these kits. We include a printout of a basic free pattern and instructions which you can also view and print out yourself by following those links
This pattern is suitable for a low - intermediate level of skill. Sewing on the fold over elastic and gussets provides a little challenge to the inexperienced.
In this kit you will receive enough of everything you need to make approx three pocket nappies or covers (depending on size and pattern used). The pattern included details how to add gussets to your nappy or cover, for extra protection at the leg openings.
* PUL: your choice of colours, see drop down list (50cm x approx 210cm)
* Microfleece or Suedecloth: your choice of colours (150-170 x 50cm)
* FOE (Fold Over Elastic): your choice of colour (5m)
* Hook & Loop: your choice of colour (1m loop, 1m hook)
You will need to supply thread, preferably polyester sewing thread as it will not wick like cotton thread
You do not need an overlocker for this pattern, a sewing machine is fine.
A pocket nappy needs an absorbent insert to go inside it. Pockets are a great starter nappy as you can just use your old skool flat red stripe nappies folded into a pad for the insert. In fact you can use anything as the insert - a chopped up towel, a tea towel, whatever you have to hand.
A cover goes over another fitted nappy, or a red stripe / prefold nappy, or even over a disposable for extra protection and cuteness!
